POLITICAL CONTEXTS OF EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP

ISLLC STANDARD SIX

Welcome to the Political Contexts of Educational Leadership Website

Purpose

The Political Contexts of Educational Leadership Website offers two kinds of readers (instructors and students) a supporting and supplemental set of resources, including links and ideas by chapter. Both sets of pages also link to case studies that provide further examples of politics in and around schooling.

Instructor Pages

The Instructor Pages offer insights into the instructional scaffolding that support case-based learning, standards-based assessment, and scoring ideas, and links to policies about the standards for school leaders, and standards for preparation programs.

Student Pages

The Student Pages include further readings and links expanding each chapter´s concepts and cases. These Student Pages also offer research-based explanations of concepts and the sometimes associated misconceptions about the vocabulary of politics in schooling. Many people have a very negative view of what is political, and still the work of politics is necessary in everyday life as people try to achieve their goals. The student pages for this text provide additional information that may help with understanding how a political perspective can help school leaders provide a successful education for all students.
